What is a Teleclass, Teleclass Tips, Teleclass Etiquette
Have you hesitated registering for a teleclass because you’re not quite sure what it is, or what to expect?

A teleclass, also sometimes referred to as a teleseminar, is a live class, conducted by telephone, using a teleconference bridge line. It’s just like a conference call that allows many people to be on the line at the same time.
Most teleclasses are interactive and will include a set time for question and answers (Q&A) and sharing. What’s wonderful about teleclasses is that you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home, so there are no travel expenses and it saves time. You simply register for the class, schedule the time on your calendar (check time zone), turn off all interruptions and listen in. Also, if the class is being recorded, you may have the option to listen to the call later on. Recordings may be free or fee-based.

For people with a busy schedule, a teleclass is a great way to learn about a new skill and is more accessible and convenient than an in-person class.

Teleclass Tips & Etiquette:

To get the most benefit out of a teleclass, we recommend the following:

1) Keep your teleclass instructions in front of you, so that you know what to do if you need to mute or unmute your line.

2) Call in on a regular landline phone and disable your call waiting feature, if you have one. Corded phones are best, but if you only have cordless, stay as close to the base as possible. Switch off any cell phones or other electronics that may interrupt or disrupt the call.

3) Consider purchasing a calling card from your local discount store for lower cost long distance fees.

4) Some classes may give you the option to access via Skype, so if you do not have a landline or are calling from overseas, this may be a good option for you. However, a landline phone is still the best option.

Note: Cell phones are highly discouraged because they can create major sound issues for the caller and other participants, and you may also experience frequent dropped calls.

5) You’ll want to be able to concentrate and take good notes, so pick a quiet and comfortable location with no distractions. This is especially important if the call is not being recorded, and you only have one chance to hear the information.

6) During the Q&A portion of the class, state your first name before you ask a question, and then mute your line when you’re finished talking.
