Jacquie Ross is owner and founder of CastAway the Clutter! She is a 2009 Maryland small business award winner, author of 3 e-books, professional organizer, certified professional life coach and certified youth/parent/family coach! Jacquie has been helping busy professional women, moms, families, empty nesters and seniors since 2007 to eliminate clutter, get organized and live more simple and fulfilled lives.
Several years ago as a new mom, Jacquie discovered that she began to accumulate a lot of stuff, and soon learned that along came with all the stuff, came disorganization, too much maintenance, frustration and time spent searching for misplaced items. She knew there had to be a better way, so she went on a mission to pare down, purge items that were getting in the way, shop only when she needed to, and discovered that life was much easier when she had a lot less stuff.
Since those early days, she has switched careers and teaches clients and groups from all walks of life the “less is more” philosophy, while helping them to embrace a simpler and clutter-free lifestyle. In her client’s homes she creates systems and processes so that they are able to keep order in their home and stay organized, and outside of the home, and empowers her clients to run their homes more effectively.
Jacquie also discovered that people are generally feeling overwhelmed and struggle to get through the day, whether or not they are dealing with clutter, so she began teaching time management techniques to groups and individuals throughout the Baltimore/DC area. Although, she rarely presents to groups now, she is still open to speaking to larger groups every once in a while.
An active member of the community, Jacquie is a leader in her industry and a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO), and is a founder and Past President of her local NAPO Baltimore chapter, and adheres to the NAPO Code of Ethics. She is also a writer for the Baltimore Examiner in her column, “Organized Families” and has written three books, Take Control of Your Clutter Before it Takes Control of You!, Take Back Control of Your Paper and Mail and A Busy Mom’s Guide to a More Organized Life. In 2016 Jacquie earned the NAPO Residential Specialist certificate. She has also participated in ongoing education through NAPO, and has attended NAPO Conferences 2009-13, 2016, and will be attending the NAPO 2017 conference. Jacquie is also a past subscriber of the Institute for Challenging Disorganization (ICD) where she received continuing education to learn how to help individuals challenged by chronic disorganization. She holds 3 ICD Certificates of Education in Chronic Disorganization, ADD/ADHD and Time Management & Productivity. At NAPO Baltimore, in addition to her role as President she has also served on the board as Marketing Director and Vice President, since 2008.
An expatriate from England, Jacquie worked for 8 years at the British Embassy on arrival to the United States and later spent 10 years at the World Bank, prior to starting CastAway the Clutter! She now resides in Ellicott City, MD with her husband, two children and cute Wheaten Terrier dog, Bella.
